Layla's Nursery

With only 20 days left until Layla will arrive, I put the final finishing touches on her room! I LOVE it! The room was already turquoise, so I wanted to find bedding to match it and I love it. It matches perfectly and of course, I love the large giraffe print.

I made this to hang in her room. I framed a piece of fabric and applied a vinyl wall decal on the glass of the frame. I was going to buy an open back frame from Hobby Lobby, but then I would have to buy the glass and backing. So I browsed the framed art and found a really ugly picture, brought it home, took out the ugly poster and voila...cheaper than having to buy it separately.

We bought Layla a new crib. We had already converted Ella's crib to the full size bed, and I wanted an antique white finish. I have had the mirror since I first moved to Dallas. It was black, but I painted it to match the crib.

Of course Miss Priss was in the room while I was taking pictures. She loves to crawl into Layla's bed. I did tell her one day that she could not get into Layla's crib and she looked at me, pointed her finger at my tummy and said "Layla, you are in trouble. You understand?!" It was the funniest thing ever! I know there will be jealousy, but she loves babies so much, so I think she will also be sweet and gentle.

The black and white photographs were already in the black frames, I painted them cream. I took them in my photography class in Italy, so for now they are staying, but they will eventually be replaced with pictures of sweet Layla.

Yes, that is a bridal picture of me and it will be replaced too. That table was in Ella's room, but she got a new table. The chair was Ella's too, but now that her room is a toy store it doesn't fit and she doesn't need it.

I love the cornice board. It is simple, but adds some color to that corner. And of course the craddle that Ella's Grandad made for her will now be used to Layla.

I also had this old dresser. I painted it brown, put some new hardware on it and it is good to go. Trey's parents are ordering the changing pad covers to match the room and this will be our changing station.

So happy I finally finished it! Now we just need the baby (not that she will even sleep in here until she is six months old!!).

I had a doctors appointment yesterday and Layla is still doing good. My blood pressure was a little higher than normal and in the past week my feet, hands and legs have swollen. I had to say goodbye to my wedding rings after my finger turned purple!!! The doctor did tell me to keep my feet up and don't overdo it. That is easy with a two year old, right?! I am in the home stretch and can't wait to meet our sweet Layla!

Easter Egg Hunt

We had a MOPS Easter egg hunt again this year and it was a lot of fun. We tried rounding up all of our little ones for a group photo. I must say, this is a pretty good group photo considering hos many kiddos there were. Of course, there were a few stragglers who wondered off while we were all trying to take pictures and a couple who didn't want to be in it from the get go, but other than that not too shabby!

Ella and her sweet friend Jalie and Katie (Asleep in the stroller) were all wearing these cute bunny shirts another one of the Moms in our group made. They are so cute (the girls and the shirts)!
Then it was time to get down to business. Ella ran and picked up her eggs, but she soon caught on to the fact that there was candy inside of them. So, she would pick up an egg, open it, put the candy in the basket and leave the egg on the ground. I had to follow behind and bend over (as best as I can!) and pick up the discarded eggs so some other kid didn't come along and pick it up and discover there was no candy.

Of course she took off her shoes as soon as she could. This girl loves to go barefoot.
Sweet Katie came and hung out with me for a little while. She is such a good baby! Ella saw me holding her and came up and said "Hi Baby!". She patted her and rubbed her and would just smile at her. I asked her if she loved the baby and she said yes. It was so sweet to watch how gentle and nice she was being! Makes me hope it will go this smoothly when Layla arrives!

After a while though Katie had to go back to her momma and was soon fast asleep. I just think this is so sweet!!! I can't wait for Layla to get here!

We had a great egg hunt. Ella played very hard with all of the bigger girls and was worn out and oh so very dirty when we finally left. We came home and she took a nap, but as soon as she was up she was looking for that basket of candy and it did not last long! She is like her Daddy and LOVES candy!

Dallas Aquarium

Two weeks ago Ella and I went to the Aquarium with our friends Melody, Jalie and Katie. Ella loves Jalie and Melody, so anytime I say we are going somewhere with them she says "Yipee!" and jumps up and down! It is so cute! Jalie is 5, so obviously she is into older things than Ella, who is 2, but she is SO sweet to her. Holding hands as we walk through the exhibit.

Ella loves looking at all of the birds, monkeys, fish, etc. This was the first time she had been there. Some of my friends had gone before, but I wanted to wait to take her so that she would really enjoy it and she did!

She loved this part! This gigantic turtle kept swimming from one end to the other and she would follow him and say "What ya doin' turtle? Where ya goin'?" or "Turtle come back".

We stayed in this part quite a while just letting the girls look at the fish. It was really neat because everything in that tank was gigantic, especially next to our girls.

Jalie was ready to see the penguins, so we headed outside.

Ever since Ella has been walking around the house like a penguin saying "I'm a penguin momma. I walk like penguin."

It was a little cool outside, so we headed back inside to the Shark area. Ella didn't pay too much attention to the sharks, but Jalie did. I think Jalie might have been a little scared of them, she stuck pretty close to her mom.

I think this picture is funny. Not very often that you take a family picture with a shark in the background.

I wasn't expecting to see a Leopard at the Aquarium, but the girls loved it. When we first walked up to it it was sleeping, but someone took a flash picture and I think that woke it up because then it started moving around and the girls really wanted to stay and watch it. Jalie had been carrying around a stuffed leopard and wanted to introduce them to each other.

We had a great time! Afterwards we went and ate lunch at the Spaghetti Warehouse and had the sweetest waiter who brought the girls candy after they ate their lunch. It was such a fun time with our friends!

To Do....

I now have approximately 42 days until Layla arrives!! I prefer to count in days instead of weeks, because it seems a lot shorter. Her bedding is supposed to ship at the end of this week and arrive next week!

Here are the things I still need to do:

Paint Dresser
Paint Mirror
Paint Canvas

Things I need to buy:

Carseat! #1 item
Drapes
Changing pad cover
Boppy
Diaper Pail  Thanks to my awesome friend Melody who is giving me the one she kept in her room for her 3 month old baby girl!
Accessories for the room
Wall/ Book Shelf
Table

Uhhh!!! I have to do all of this is 42 days?? I really do like having the room completely finished so that once our sweet girl arrives, even though she won't stay in her room for a LONG time, I don't have to decorate a room and take care of my two girls. I think I am gong to leave this post up for my amazing, sweet, very helpful husband who might read this and take care of some of these things for me!!

I did acomplish one thing this past weekend I really wanted to get done before I got so big it was hard to move (almost there) and before I got fat face! We went to downtown Waxahachie and had our maternity pictures taken. Here is one of my favorites, I will post more soon. For now I think I am going to go work on paiting the canvas for Layla's room.
